He studied at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague /1919-1924/, with the support of the Masaryk Academy of Work, he completed an internship with Le Corbusier in Paris in 1925–1926 and an internship with Frank Lloyd Wright in his Taliesin studio in 1928–1929. In the years 1930–1946, he was the head of the design department of the Baťa company in Zlín. He belonged to prominent figures in the field of Czech and Slovak modern avant-garde architecture of the 20th century.
